La Maison Berbère was born between Tunisia and Berlin — from a friendship, a shared Mediterranean memory and the desire to give the fouta a contemporary place in everyday life.

The origin of the fouta
Born in the hammam, made for life today.
Long before it became a travel essential, the fouta belonged to the rhythm of the hammam: light to carry, generous to wrap and quick to dry.
Its character comes from flat weaving — a Tunisian textile tradition that creates a supple, absorbent cloth with a distinctive texture and a remarkably compact fold. Each pattern carries the memory of a gesture refined over generations.
We preserve that useful simplicity while reworking colour, proportion and finish for contemporary homes, beaches, saunas and journeys. The result is not a souvenir, but an authentic everyday textile designed to be used often and kept for a long time.

Two friends, one shared idea
Haithem & Moufid, between two shores.
We grew up with the colours, sounds and textures of Tunisia close at hand. Years later in Berlin, we realised how clearly a fouta could carry that sense of place — without nostalgia and without folklore.
La Maison Berbère is our bridge between both worlds. We work close to the people who weave our collections, then curate every colour, set and detail so the pieces feel at home in modern European life.
